April Lindner's collection, Skin, won the 2002 Walt McDonald First Book Prize. Her poems have appeared in The Paris Review, Crazyhorse, Prairie Schooner, The Formalist, and other magazines. Garrison Keillor read two of her poems on The Writer's Almanac in May and chose one poem for his anthology Good Poems. She teaches creative writing at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. Zavala has given numerous seminars on creative writing and literature and has published several volumes of fiction, including Charras, Santillana. The novel is an account of the student leader known as Charras, who was abducted and murdered in the Yucatan. Hernan Lara Zavala is a professor at his alma mater, the National University, in Mexico City.
